Freeing People Through UBI
The case for universal basic income is becoming increasingly strong. More people are working more hours for less money, at least until the robots come along and they can’t work at all.
As I make more money I’m actually more compelled to support UBI. It’s not that I want to pay more in taxes, but even with my lifestyle changes over the past few years, I make more money than I need. I’ve lived with — and been happy with — much less than I have now.
I think it comes down to what you believe about people’s nature. If you think people are generally good and want to improve themselves, it makes sense to give everyone a fighting change. If you believe people are naturally lazy and want to take advantage of one another, it might not be wise. I guess I’m still an optimist.
