2017 and Flying Cars
Flying things have captured our imaginations for a long time. The Greeks and Chinese have fantasized about personal human flight for at least 2000 years, and we all know the future of Star Wars and the Jetsons included personal flying devices.
It’s 2017 now and while we still don’t have personal flying cars, we have drones which have helped push the technology required for lightweight electric aircraft forward. Batteries are getting better and lighter, and at some point the FAA may loosen up on its rules for flight.
Google’s founder, Larry Page, is backing a startup committed to making the personal flying device a reality. While the device isn’t quite as sleek as science fiction’s ideal, it’s possible that in a few years anyone could rent one for a quick trip over his fellow commuters.
